Retail Media Video and In-Store Screens
SHORT ANSWER
Retail media video is designed for a named display, not exported from a horizontal master by habit. Viewing distance, silent playback, safe areas, offer changes and loop behaviour shape the typography, product framing and final installation files.
Design for the actual screen
Retail media is planned around screen size, viewing distance, sound conditions, dwell time and the offer shown at the shelf. The message must remain legible in the actual placement. Every retail screen receives its own resolution, duration, safe area, sound rule and loop behaviour. The final register covers the master assets, price or offer variants and installation test files, so a crop is not treated as a complete adaptation.
A crop is not an adaptation
Do not reuse a horizontal master without checking crop, type size and silent viewing. Product and price information must survive every screen format.
Make the offer legible without sound
Motion design is designed for viewing distance and silent playback, while post-production creates each loop, crop and duration required by the retail screens. Cost changes with the number of SKUs, screen specifications, durations, localisation, offer updates and exports required by the retail network.
